Words

They are life, I am defined by them

Without them, life means nothing

Without words, I would wither and die

I would fall into the endless void, cease to exist

Jokes, witticisms, quips, quotes, rhetoric,

That is who I am, that is how I am defined

I am not just a body, another empty shell

I am not just TV and pop culture and stress

I am what I say and read and hear

I am dialogues and novels

I am drama and comedy

I am witty and nonsensical

I am speech and the written word

Take the eyes with which I read and I am weakened

Take the voice with which I speak and I perish

Words are my salvation and my weapon

Words are my gift and my being

Words are my essence.
